eHoops

Our flagship sport-led personal development programme for young people deemed “at risk” or not in education, employment or training.

14–24 years 12–24 weeks

eHoops, our flagship project, is a sport-led personal development programme designed to engage young people aged 14–24 deemed “at risk” who fall into the category of Not in Education, Employment or Training, or who reside in hard-to-reach areas, especially interface hotspots.

The programme operates once weekly for two hours over 12 to 24 weeks at a neutral venue (one hour sport, one hour workshop). Our staff, community leaders, voluntary organisations and — where applicable — the PSNI jointly select on average 24 young participants who follow a specifically designed curriculum of sport and educational workshops aimed at improving their motivation, attitude, self-confidence and belief; personal development; team-working; leadership; active citizenship; and knowledge around good relations and peace & reconciliation.

Sport is one of the few mechanisms that engages all sectors of the community and can be an effective diversionary learning tool. eHoops is a unique model in its own right, and can be adapted to suit the needs of the young people and community it is delivered within.

Can vary in duration — 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 24 weeks.
